Learn To Skate and Beginner Hockey 

Frequently Asked Questions


  • What’s the difference between Learn to Skate and Beginner Hockey? Learn to Skate focuses on the fundamentals of figure skating. Beginner Hockey focuses on the fundamentals of hockey and hockey skating skills. As the skater advances, stick handling skills are taught.

  • Do you have to be able to skate to join Beginner Hockey? No. We take all levels for Beginner Hockey. Skating skills are taught in this class. 


  • Is full gear required for Beginner Hockey? No, the only equipment requirement for Beginner Hockey is a helmet. However, full gear is recommended. 

  • Can I register at any point during a session? Yes, you can register at any time. Registrations after the first class will be pro-rated for the rest of the session. We just ask that you register at least a day in advance to the class you plan on attending to ensure placement into a class.

  • If my child doesn’t like skating, can I get a refund? We do not offer refunds. However, if you are unsure of whether your child will enjoy skating we recommend taking a trial lesson ($15). If your child would like to continue, this payment will be applied to the remainder of the five weeks.

  • What time should I show up?   Please come to class 10-15 minutes early to put on skates/ gear.

  • Is it cold in the arena? Yes!! It is very cold! Please dress your child warmly. We recommend gloves, snow pants, hats, coats, etc.

  • Does the arena have helmets we can borrow? Because we recommend helmets for all children 6 and under we do carry extra helmets.

  • Can we come to Monday and Thursday classes? Yes, you can come to both classes. However, these are two separate sessions and will have to be paid for individually.
